Citation Generators

There are tools out there which help you to organise your sources and cite them. Here are some recommended referencing tools:

Most databases will have a 'Cite' button. They will generate the reference which you can copy and paste to your bibliography.

Mendeley is a free reference manager that can help you store, organise, note, share and cite references and research data.

MyBib is a Harvard referencing tool that automatically generates formatted academic references in the Harvard style. It takes in relevant details about a source -- usually critical information like author names, article titles, publish dates, and URLs -- and adds the correct punctuation and formatting required by the Harvard referencing style. The generated references can be copied into a reference list or bibliography, and then collectively appended to the end of an academic assignment.

Things to consider when using citation generators

Don't place 100% faith in your citation generator. No citation generator is perfect so make sure you check all your references. There may be missing information you need to add manually, or there might be some inconsistencies in capitalisation, etc. Never submit your paper without double (or triple) checking your references. This process always takes longer than you think, so make sure you calculate it in your work plan.
