Q. How do you capitalise titles in Harvard style?

Book titles: Only capitalise the first word as you would writing a sentence. Proper nouns should be capitalised.

Journal Titles: Capitalise the Letter of Each Word (but Not Small Words such as 'the', and' 'in')

Q. What is the difference between italics and quotation marks?

Use italics for book titles and journal titles. Use quotation marks ' ' for book chapter titles, journal article titles, short stories and poems.

Q. What is the difference between single and double quotation marks?

They have the same function. British English uses single quotation marks ' ', while American English uses double quotation marks " " .

Q. How many references do I need?

It's best to ask your lecturer for guidance on that. But as a general rule, it's rarely the case that hitting a certain number of references correlates to a good essay. Rather than ask how many references, read your essay asking yourself, how persuasive is it? If you find some of your statements and arguments lack evidence, it means you need a reference there. On the other hand, do the references add value to your essay? Don't just cite things for the sake of having a long reference list. Irrelevant citations can decrease the quality of your essay.
