Using the Library

Journals

If you know the title of the journal that you would like to see you may search on the Library catalogue.

Locating journals in the Library

Periodicals are located on different levels of the Library, depending on the classmark.

  • Level E - classmark ‘Lee Per’ - this is a heavy used, core collection
  • Level F - classmark ‘Per’ - currently closed.

Some journals, especially older or discontinued titles, are housed off-site. The catalogue entry for the journal will indicate when this is the case. These are available on request.

What to do if you cannot find the journal you want

Check that you are looking in the right place - journals are located in different parts of the Library (see above).

Check that you are looking for the correct "accession number".

Ask at the Enquiry Desk on level E ground floor

Check to see if it is available in one of our online journal collections.

Check other libraries' catalogues to see if it is held in another library.

If you are a SOAS student or member of staff we can order the article for you from libraries outside London via Inter-Library loans.
