Walk In user access to e-resources at SOAS Library

External library users including SCONUL Access and Alumni members can access most of the e-resources at SOAS Library. To access these e-resources users will need to have a library membership card and log in details.

To log in, your user name is the library card number starting with an LW, for example LW12345-67 and a memorable date as your password, in this format dd-Mmm-yyyy.

External library users can use e-resources on

  • Three terminals on Level E close to the enquiry desk

Users can consult the SOAS Library catalogue and  A-Z list of Databases as well as some e-books available on the e-Books web page.
Resources can be downloaded to an external drive, such as a USB memory stick.

Users are reminded to comply with copyright guidelines and terms of use when downloading e-resources.

The following e-resources are not available to external users due to the terms of our licenses:

  • Al-Ahram Digital Archive
  • Bridgeman Education
  • Eikon
  • Financial Times (FT)
  • GTA China
  • Kanopy
  • Lexis Library
  • National Library of Korea
  • The New York Times
  • Pakistan Law Site
  • Saarey
  • UK Dataservice
  • VLeBooks
  • Westlaw

SOAS Alumni:
Alumni members can access e-resources at the Library premises by using the log in details printed on the library card starting with an alum, for example alum-12345 and a memorable date as your password, in this format dd-Mmm-yy.

Alumni members have off-campus access to JSTOR archival content. To access this resource you will need to register with the SOAS Alumni website (free). To access JSTOR users need to go via the SOAS Alumni website.
