Middle East and Central Asia

SOAS has an important collection of multimedia material that can be of interest for your studies and research on the Middle East and beyond. This collection comprises mostly DVDs and CDs, but you will also be able to use our collections of vinyl, tapes, microfilms and microfiches. SOAS currently subscribes to video databases such as Kanopy. SOAS is also growing its collection of multimedia material, including our Library Digital Collections and the SOAS podcasts series, which are universally accessible for free. 

FILM AND VIDEO MATERIAL 

DVDs 

The library has a collection of circa 5,000 DVDs from the the regions studies at SOAS, including the Middle East and North Arica. About 400 of theses are in Middle Eastern languages and many other in other languages can also be of interest for your studies in the region. The collection comprises cinematographic works as well as documentary and other learning material. 

A majority of the DVD collection can be found on the ground floor of the Library (level E). 

KANOPY 

SOAS subscribes to Kanopy, a video-streaming service giving access to over 8,000 award-winning documentaries, foreign language films, feature films and TV series. Subject coverage includes the Arts, Anthropology, History, Religion & Philosophy and Regional Studies.
